1967 F100 Custom Cab

Hey everyone,
I'm new here, Per-Erik is my name, Swede, formerly a resident of Missouri. When I lived there I worked as a painter, and I drove a 1968 F100 Ranger. When I moved back to Sweden in 1998 I sold the truck, only to regret that I did, and I have been wanting another 5th generation F100 since then. Well, this week I bought one, that I'm going to bring back with me and restore. It's in need of a lot of work, but I'm not worried about that, mostly excited to get started.

Hey Dirk,
I live in Helsingborg, and next week I will be in Las Vegas, so I can't make it to the Big Power Meet. Maybe next time. If the truck isn't done, I can always use the Mustang

Nice find, you can't re-create a body like that so just leave it alone and do all the mechanicals. Then later, if you want a shiny one, you move the engine tranny and all the new goodies into the nicer body. For now just enjoy it as a rat rod.

Is it a headache to export it to Sweden?

That's been my thought actually. Fix everything underneath, and the interior, and leave as much of the rest "as is" for now... Glad to hear that others might agree! That's always nice. As far as importing to Sweden, I'll pay more for the shipping than I paid for the truck, but it's not difficult. I'm paying a company to pick it up here in the mid west, and they're responsible for it the whole way to Sweden. The ocean shipping will be done in a container shared with another vehicle. Start to finish about 6 weeks, which gives me time to clear a spot for it at home. Can't wait!

Wow, that's a lot of patience to get a truck like this to Sweden. And yes, I forgot that a nice interior would also be a good thing. Keeping the outside original lets you just wash it about twice a year and still think it looks better after you wash it.

Were any of these originally sold in Sweden?

If I ever hope to have my wife ride along, the interior needs to be nice :-). As far as I know all of these in Sweden are private imports. They do sell the new Rangers now, but that's only been the last few years. When I was growing up I never saw any, but there are a few now. I fell in love with my first one, and I have been kicking myself ever since I sold it...

Hmmm...we have different women. Mine says the bath mat under the torn seat cover is good enough and I shouldn't spend money to reupholster the seat in my dirty work truck. My '67 has a nice interior because it is a hot rod.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on finding a truck to work on. The six weeks will give you time to get a truck manual in CD format too.
