C-6 transmission tail shaft and slip yolk?

I am currently putting the pieces together for the drive shaft. I have a slip yolk that I'm not familiar with, it appears to be the correct one for my C-6 but I want to check with my experts here. This yolk is 8" from the center of the U cap to the end of the barrel. The appropriate yolk which is the 1310 31 spline is 7" from the center of cap to end of barrel and splined to the end. The one I have, the splines start about 2.5" from the end of the barrel and bottomed out I have about 2" from the seal to the yolk base. The output shaft protrudes a half inch past the seal. I am wondering if there will be enough spline engagement when I pull the slip yolk back about 3/4" to allow for slack. Or, should I trim about an inch off the un splined part of the barrel? I'll try and put some pics here. Thanks much, in advance.

Yolk is bottomed here.

Splines start at the right end mark, left mark is when the barrel hits bottom.

Do you know what the C6 trans is from?

The ID tag (see pic) is located under one of the bolts that retains the round servo cover on the drivers side of the case. By now, it could be missing.

I ask because there are dozens of car & truck "1310" 31 spline slip yokes.

The tag is missing but the transmission came out of a '77 ford econoline, it was rebuilt quite a few years ago. The engine is a 351w.

Thanks much Bill and Smitty, this info really helps. It appears I don't have to modify the barrel by shortening it. What would you recommend for free play, from bottom out?
