When I put the motor in I cheaped out and reused a set of intake gaskets, and it bit me in the butt. I have been thinking about adding the 800hp Fitech EFI system down the road. So, I figured I would use a Victor 460 intake that I already had. I did some port work on it, painted it and installed it. Should be a bit easier to deal with one carb, not that the Carter 750 carbs are that hard to tune. This intake allows me to use a much larger air filter, which should be good for an offroad type vehicle. I'll have to get an offset filter base, the filter I'll get is 14 x 5". The carb I have on there now is a Predator with the idle circuit.
I'm still alive! Looks like it has been almost a year now since I updated this thread. I have the floor done as of a couple days ago. It's been stupid cold, like a lot of the country right now, Zero out right now. Piecing in the floor was pretty miserable, managed to to get a chunk of metal in my eye. That sucked like it always does. I'm going to use front seats out of a ford escape. Color doesn't match, but there isn't many options for finding something in green anymore. Center console came out of a late model f-150, 2006 I think. It has plenty of storage, cup holders, and a rear facing power port. Again the color doesn't match either.
The seats aren't mounted in place in this picture but you get the idea for the general layout. They are mounted now to the original bases. That took some fiddling but I got them to work good with more adjustability than the original seats.

Going to use the bumpers from the f-350. The front has needed some cutting. It'll kinda look like this but higher. I will have to trim the ends for tire clearance. More on that later.

I bought a 2wd 1979 f-150 supercab to daily drive and pull my camper. That used up a lot of my available time and money in the spring and early summer of 2018. I swapped the 302 it cam with for a mild built 460. It's got ported big valve heads, forged pistons, Fitech efi, long tube headers. My family and I love it, even my wife was supportive of the build. And due to the amount of floor fixing I had to do on my bronco, replacing only about a third of the f-150 floor was a breeze.

Thanks. NYS inspections switch over to a basic safety inspection after 26 years of age. Politicians haven't totally ruined the state, yet. Of course Cuomo is really trying hard to so far this year.
Rear floor out of my parts truck swapped into the bronco.
I just had to see the rear seat setting in place.
Floor repairs are done. Rust repairs left are replacing the drivers side rear wheel arch, and wheelhouse brace. There is also some spots on the top of the wheel well hump that need some attention. I plan to line the rear wheel wells with thick plastic form a 55 gallon drum. We'll see how that goes.
The 180 degree header plan got changed. I had a tube that I just couldn't get to seal up. I did end up getting the Fitech EFI, so I have to be able the seal up the headers to run a wideband O2 sensor. I got a set of Mad Dog fender well headers. I ordered them for a '79 bronco thinking that the body mounts would be the biggest fitment issue. The frame is from a 1987 f-350 so I knew chances were slim that it would bolt right up. It didn't, I had to cut up my $500+ headers to make them fit. In hind site I should have just made a simple set of tri Y headers that ran inside the frame rails, because now with the 40" tires on there wasn't enough clearance to turn the bronco. This is how things get out of hand. So I decided to get the clearance I needed to go up and forward. I got a shackle reversal for the front leaf springs. That raised it 2 1/2". And I get a set of bolt in lift blocks that you can adjust the axle location with. With those I moved the front axle ahead 1 1/2" and up another inch. I think I'll have enough room now, if not the headers will have to be changed again. Stuff snowballed pretty quickly now. I might have the ratchet strap my suspension down to get the bronco out of my cave of a garage, the door is only seven feet tall.
This picture shows where the front wheel ends up. Also I am going to use the f-350 bumpers, obviously the bumper and fender will need to be trimmed a bit.
The rear springs had to be replaced because one of them snapped when I removed the overload springs that came with the f-350 frame. Glad that happened in the garage and not on the road. I found that a lot of the bolts holding the rear suspension together were in very poor shape, I was glad to replace them too.

Still have a lot to do, not sure if I'll get it on the road this year. Just getting it done enough to put it outside and install the wheels and tires is a big win for me. I had to drive it out of my garage like this. lol

The big Broncos have always looked like they just WANT MORE HORSEPOWER! LOL! You'll have that in spades. Nice your kiddos get to hear what a REAL engine sounds like too!
