CNG 1990 f150 hypothetical

I have a 1990 f150 and I was wondering if anyone has or if it is possible to convert these to CNG. I know there is a way to run gasoline and CNG alternately (an old employer had a Silverado he could switch between fuels) but is it possible on a vehicle this old.

I'm wondering for reasons like emissions and driving in the HOV lane by myself. (Leagal with an alternate fuel vehicle in AZ)

There were kits around to convert these trucks to CNG. I'm not sure they're still around though. I'm also not sure the cost of one would be worth driving in the HOV lane.

It would be more for the emissions. The employer I mentioned in the post couldn't pass emissions with his truck running gas so he always sides the CNG to pass. I'm just for seeing issues down the road since my truck is pretty old and was not taken care of.

I wouldn't worry about it. A new cat would be cheaper than a CNG conversion system.

cng prices are different around the continent, but up here, it went up dramatically some years back, virtually wiping out all the savings. if you plan on putting a system together out of used parts it's do-able but to buy a new conversion system just for the sake of passing emissions you would be money ahead just to get your truck ship-shape, emission-wise.
