Mystery part after column shifter bushing replacement

I replaced the column shifter bushings and shaft in my 99 F-350. The old shaft was worn and caused a loose shifter. The shifter is nice and tight now, but I noticed this extra part on the floor afterwards. Pictures are attached. I've been looking over the parts diagrams for the steering column and I can't find this piece anywhere. Does anyone know where this came from so I can put it back? I've looked everywhere in the column and didn't see a place it would go. Thanks.
