California Smog Help 351W Swap for Mustang

Hey everyone, I had a couple CA smog concerns that I was hoping someone could help me out with. As the title states, I'm planning on dropping a 351W from a 95 F-150 into my 89 Mustang. I want to make it smog legal thus requiring a visit to a referee. From my understanding, I have to equip all the smog equipment that originally came with 95 F-150 for that engine correct? Secondly, for any aftermarket parts, does the CARB EO# have to be model specific for my 89 Mustang or a 95 F-150 since I am dropping a 351 from a 95 F-150? Are there any other smog concerns that I should have to worry about? Also, just in case I have trouble finding all the smog components at a junkyard; which I shouldn't, does anyone know of a website of where I can purchase all the smog components? Have to hate California and their strict smog laws sometimes. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Where are you at with this?

If you make it smog to '95 truck specs, you might be better off with the original 302, all things considered.

Now IDK about California, but here in Ohio my 89' F-150 is emissions exempt being 25 years old, even without historical tags. May be worth looking into, you could end up side-stepping this issue all together...

Uh huh...
CA ain't OH!

CA smog tests all 1976 and newer vehicles, all the original emission parts have to be present and in good working order.

If the vehicle fails the smog test, it cannot be registered.

351w swap

You should check out latemodelresto they have a section for what you need for the 351w swap. For the carb number for the after market part you should get a sticker stating that the part you have its compatible with California laws. As for the reff I won't have reported it and long as all the smog equipment is on the car and in good shape it should pass smog. Some one correct me if I missed something.

If you drop a 1991 351 into your older truck, it now has to meet all the smog regs & have the components for the 1991......that means, EFI only and no carb...
