Spare tire - diameter, differential rotation, A4wd?

Hello FTE,

Looks like I will have to use a spare tire for the first time ever on my 2000 Expy (5.4l, EB, AWD). I've got a flat on a rear tire.

And it occurred to me - the spare's full size, but still a bit different in diameter than the regular tires. Or I might throw one of the snows on it, which are definitely different in diameter.

Then I need to drive about 60 miles before getting the original back.
Except the rear is the main drive axle. Am I not going to eat up the differential with the different rotation rates?

I could throw a front tire onto the rear and put the spare on the front, but then isn't the AWD going todetect different rotation rates and kick in the front wheel drive, and mess up the front transfer case?

Who'd have thought a flat could be so technical?

Thanks.

Put the odd diameter on the front and pull the fuse for the A4WD.

Yes, of course, brilliant. Thanks.

Fuses and their locations is always something of a mystery. I have an aftermarket service book, but there's no clear table of fuses and their locations. Would anyone know if this:

I FIND A DIAGRAM FOR BOTH FUSE BOXES ON MY 2000 EXPEDITION 5.4 4wd

is the correct location table, and if the one labelled "104 - transfer case shift relays, torque on demand relay" is the right one?

Thanks.

It's fuse #104 in the fuse box under the hood.

Go here to download your owner's manual which has the fuse index and layout starting on page 161 : Owner Manuals | fleet.ford.com

An owner's manual!. I never had one for this truck. And never expected fuses to be in it - always expected them to be in service manuals.

Very much appreciated, thank you.
