New Air Compressor Witch To Buy

Guys,

I need a new air compressor for my garage.Budget is $1300.00 would like to spend less so i can use the extra money for parts for my truck.Looking mainly for a single faze 5hp with cast iron pump 2 stage 230v 60 gallon with around 15cfm.Really like the quincy 2v41c60vc.Would consider 80 gallon as well.Found a 80 gal Kobalt at lowes that had 16cfm @ 90psi for $849.00.But don't know anything about those.Any brands to stay away from?? or any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have an older 80 gal Quincy('02).....it's bulletproof. Also it's made in the USA. Not sure if the new ones are USA made or not, but if they are, I'd go for it.

You might ask over on Garage Journal as well.

Quincy is the top name brand along with ingersoll rand, speedaire, and Dayton. I have personally seen a Quincy 350 industrial unit run 24 hrs a day for 8 years.
Over the years i have rebuilt and replaced many of the Chinese cheap ones and craftsman. (I had a sandblasting bussiness.) My advice is to buy a better used one than a cheaper new one. The best one i ever owned was made by Westinghouse for train air brakes and i still use it as seen in this pic.

Caveat emptor. Quincy also markets single stage made in China air pumps.

My Ingersol-Rand is made in U.S.A and the specs you listed. Even says 100% duty cycle. Been running for years and never a problem.

I have an older Saylor-Beall that I bought used from a body shop. Idiots in the shop ran it without an air filter inside the spray booth. Valves became clogged and compressor stopped pumping. Bad for them but good for me...$100 later I had a made in USA industrial compressor and with a $40 worth of rebuild parts it was good as new. Quality is worth the price when it comes to compressors.
