My Y block came in a 1956 Fire engine.
It is a 302 Y block!
Not a modern 302 but a 1957 Lincoln used only in fire engines in 1956.
It is kind of a greenish yellow with silver valve covers.
I’ve always been told that the ignition coli must always be mounted vertically
That is the correct spot for a y block to have the coil mounted. Although the coil top is supposed to face the pass side and not the driver side as pictured here

FYI: That is an old picture of my engine. I have a mustard top coil (and I know that is not original to 1954, I think they came out in the late 50's) facing the correct way. And I have better manifolds on and they are painted flat black.
