Cool 1973 ford f100 ranger xlt electrical issues

Hope someone can help me please. I just started to restore my 1973 f-100, i am having some electrical issues. The radio will not work along with the rear taillights and 12 v cigarette lighter. All the other lights seem to work fine.

First check that the fuses are good. Take a voltmeter and be sure to check both sides of the fuse. The taillights, check and make sure you have voltage at the brake light switch. Do your turn signals and emergency flashers work? The brake lights work through the turn signal switch.
On the cigarette lighter, again, check to see if you have voltage at the lighter. If yes, then either bad ground or bad element.
Stock radios have a separate inline fuse to check.

yes i have voltage, the turn signals work as well as the flashers and brake lights. could it have anything to do with the previous owner adding an outlet for hitch lights?

Turn the emergency flashers on. Do the rear brake lights flash when they are on? If yes, then the wiring is okay. If not, you might have butchered wiring, you'll have to check.
The brake lights work through the turn signal switch. Since you say your signals and flashers work, the next thing I would check would be the brake light switch. It's up under the dash at the top of the brake pedal assy. Pull the plug and check the switch for continuity when the pedal is depressed.
