Evelyn's big adventure!

Last week my husband and I took off on a road trip to Las Vegas and back for a bowling tournament. A total of nearly 3000 miles, and my husband drove every single inch of it. And the way he drove, if anything in her new engine was going to break, he would have done it. But she performed flawlessly, taking us across miles upon miles of endless desert wasteland, just humming along. We hit some really rough roads in New Mexico, which were not fun, but other than that the trip went just fine. We had a blast. We broke it up into two days each way, and averaged about 12 hours running time at 75 - 80 mph.

Oh, and an added bonus is that my average MPG went from 15.5 to 16.1! Guess she liked the long stretches of open road.

just thought I'd let y'all know that her new engine and turbo are working just fine.

Oh! I forgot the best part - she took out a vulture! One was standing in the road, and when it took off, it misjudged its flight path slightly. Hit the edge of the grill and then the windshield, then rolled off the side. I have a crack in the grill surround, but I'd rather have that than a smashed windshield! We were running 80, so you can imagine how hard it hit. Had to stop at the next available gas station and clean the truck off, but once all the blood and guts were gone, so were we........
