Yes, they are expensive and messy to change the filters but I'm glad I have them installed. Changed the filters last night. They are definitely doing their job.

 

I need to change the filters on mine here soon...

 

Sorry the conditions of those filters don't look any different than a standard oem filter to me.

Kinda like holding an air filter up to a light as a basis of deciding to replace or not.

 

How many miles on those and where do you get fuel?

My oem filters have never been that dirty. Granted I usually change about every 10k miles.

 

I do mine every 15,000 and they usually look as good as when installed. Can't complain however, better than the other way around. To the OP, those don't look terrible.

 

I dont understand your point. These filters are used in addition to the OEM filters. They are soiled and it shows they are working to keep crap out of the fuel system.

 

These have 10K on them. I get my fuel at a high volume truck stop. I change all my fuel filters at 10K intervals. My OEM filters usually look worse than these when I change them.

 

I didn't think they were terrible. MY OEM filters are usually worse looking after 10K. I was just trying to make the point that the DS filtration system is helping in the effort of making sure the purest fuel possible is allowed into the delicate fuel system.

Are these filters pre or post OEM?
Can you post a pic of your setup?
How about sending one in for a sample analysis to get a better idea of the particles filtered out.

 

gwcon - Thanks for the update and sharing. I wasn't criticizing you for using it, was just curious how fast they 'got dirty' and if you had a use case that you used questionable fuel places.

 

A little late to the Party... But on BOLD.

I loosen the Factory lower filter 3 turns, drain it a little, then drain the two DS bowls, and it is dry simple change. No MESS at all! Don't forget to tighten back up the Factory lower when done.
