Klinksters 48 F3 Flatbed Project

Welcome to FTE. Looks like a nice project you are starting.
If you want a high powered motor you can always go coyote and that'll keep it Ford powered. Another thought is running an IDI diesel. Find a donor f350 4x4 and pull everything to use. Axles / transmission / transfer case and motor.
Just a thought

48-52 Front cab mounts.
Hi, well I am back at it... and have run into a snag... I ordered new front cab mounts and while attempting at trial fit found that:
A) the material used was way thinner than the stock ones. I was told it would be as thick or thicker... ARGH
B) where the mount has a tab bent up to weld to the A pillar, I fount that it was bent 3/8 of an inch to far towards the rear of the cab and at an angle, causing it to stick way out on the A pillar.
Are these mount all made in one place or are some of better quality than others?
HELP,
Bob

I bought a pair last year and they fit great. Got mine from LMC. Looks like you have it placed right in the dent in the floor correctly. What about the firewall side where it meets with the other piece there? Maybe you got one with a bad bend . Did you replace some of the floor underneath it there in that corner?

Cross cab brace commin out
Well in order to repair the B pillar and rear section of the cab. The cross cab brace had to come out. Wow, what a job... 2 days worth of drilling, prying, hacking, and a few cuss words. But it is out, and now the real fun can start.

Glad to hear you are getting new ones. Indexing on the front piece is how I did mine too. Worked out good. I see you are taking that rear rib out. I had to do the other one along with the floor. Fabbed mine out of some sheet metal and my homemade anvil. Wear earplugs. Don't you just love spot welds? I drilled and then used an old 3/4 inch wood chisel to pry the thing up. Noisy and tedious but necessary. Hang in there, there is an end to it all, I think...
