Get a two-ton cherry picker:
2 ton Capacity Foldable Shop Crane

The engine weighs around 1K+ Lbs, the lighter duty cranes have trouble.

Also, not sure what your overall budget is, but if you have a good air impact wrench(and air compressor) your life will be a /lot/ easier: 1/2 in. Professional Air Impact Wrench
Otherwise... make sure you have a good set of sockets, extensions, universal(swivel)s, and a long breaker bar.

Beyond that, it's a matter of:
1. Remove air cleaner and anything loose/in the way
2. Drain and remove radiator
3. disconnect any wires in the way, fuel lines
4. Remove exhaust connections
5. Remove the transmission bolts. A bunch of extensions and a universal makes life easier. An impact on top of that makes it a snap
6. loosten the engine mount bolts
7. start lifting, remove the mount bolts

once you've got it free, you will need to wiggle it forward, up and out. A fiddly process, and a lot easier with two people.

There's probably other things, but that's kind of an overview.

First idi I pulled I had trouble with the oil filter hanging up on the crossmember or something. Remove that too.

along with everything else, dont try to pull both engine and trans....
drop the trans first.
also, remove the fan clutch, its a tight fit.

i dont pull or install without a load leveler.
makes getting the engine around the firewall a bit easier.

Ive always left the trans in the truck. You dont have to pull the hood off but it makes it easier.

I just did mine today. Couldn't get the transmission to separate, just pulled them together. I pulled the core so it was easy. I'm swapping the core from that parts truck into my truck when the engine gets done anyway. It took me about 4 hours by myself to pull the core, bumper, engine and Trans. I pulled the Trans out with just the locating tabs holding it no amount of jacking, lowering, or prying would get it loose. I had a turbo on the engine too and pulled it with turbo and crossover pipes, I did remove the oil filter as mentioned

There are 4 18mm thread locked nuts for the engine mounts, 2 18mm nuts on the transmission crossmember. I lifted with just a strap by the two factory I take loops.

To pull the core you gotta remove the headlights and headlight panel, two 11mm nuts behind the turn signals hold the headlight brack in In addition to the Half dozen 5/16 you can see. There are two 5/16 bolts eat each fender connection accessible with the two larger washer bolts on the wheel well removed. Then you gotta remove the passenger battery tray and the bracket bolted to the driver. Then loosen the top tow bolts of the fender on each side. Then the two core bolts at the bottom of frame. Once radiator and condenser and removed slam it towards back of truck and it'll tilt out of the way and come off. Bumper is held on by 4 21mm nuts I believe. To remove fan you can use an air hammer on the large nut, it's reverse thread so need to go clock wise to come off.

If it's a turbo truck down pipe has to come out, and transmission dipstick if it's an auto. 2 power steering lines, 2 ground cables, 1 positive, a couple ground straps at the firewall, coolant hoses, ac lines. I pulled mine with all accessories still on.

You can leave the ac and ps lines attached and leave them in the truck.
