Ford Non DEF crystalize in DPF ?

Hi. Myself and my brother-inlaw have been lucky enough to buy 2016 6.7's.
Were getting to know our trucks pretty well now so as to take good care of them. When my bro was at the dealers where he bought his from one of the mechanics mentioned that they had seen issues with Non OEM DEF crytalizing in the DPF creating less flow/blockages,aslo he said if the build up of crystals isn't too much switching back to Ford DEF will burn it outa there.
Also i have only filled my tank once so far at 1800klm and only 4000klm driven so i was surprised to have to fill it up so soon as my dealer told me it would only be necessary when services are done. I drive a combination of hwy/town/hauling 4k trailer some days,i did read in the manual aggressive driving uses more DEF but do new trucks use more DEF also?. My truck has 15 min idle time. Any info appreciated Thanks.

It sounds like your dealer is trying to sell you DEF. If your DEF meets the ISO standard and is within date range, it doesn't matter what brand it is, or where you purchase it from.

Certified DEF is all the same, regardless of the brand.

DEF also crystallizes when it dries, regardless of the brand. Submerged crystals dissolve quickly.

Ha! trying to upsell you some expensive ****.

Do get the ford fill spout. It is the best out there.

I get my DEF at wally world usually. Blue peak is what I have been using and the ford spout will work and prevents over filling. Rinse the spout, ziplock it and use again.

Don't fill till you get within about 200 US miles (not sure how many KM's that is) till empty. Then do a complete fill.

You can use trucks stop bulk, many do but I prefer to fill separately as you really don't go through it that fast anyway.
