hahah workin on it. just saved a ton of lighting pics on my other computer last night (ended up looking at pics for like 2 hours!!) of side marker lights on the running boards etc. some people go overboard, i don't like a million lights, but sometimes like 3 or 4 evenly spaced out right under the rocker panels looks nice at night. considering adding those, replacing everything outside with LED (dually fender side markers, cab lights, the 3 little lights under my tailgate- may add a 2nd one also) etc. as well as the grille lights.

question for you guys about a roof rack. would you be concerned with a custom roof rack that is built off of my headache rack, and bolted to the roof near the front cab lights? should i bolt it to the roof, not that i go offroad and flex the bed a lot, but could an issue ever arise should the bed and cab skew different ways and possibly rip/bend the roof sheet metal? the rack will be heavy square tubing like my headache rack, and my steel spare wheel/35" tire in it, so it will need some type of support up front. rather than bolting it to the roof, you think i'd be better off with some like thick rubber bushings, sort of like a bumpstop, attached to the rack, but just sitting on the roof?

i'm almost positive i've seen racks from the bed extend to the front, but i think they just hang above the roof, and the ones that are bolted, are the full length ones and they run all the way to the front bumper and bolt to that rather than just body sheet metal.

what do you guys think? figured i'd post here rather than make a new thread just for 1 question.

I would not bolt something to your bed and to the roof of your cab. I can't see that working out well myself. But I've never done it.

Ufvj I'm with Squisher on this one. Definitely not a good idea to tie the bed and cab together. Somethings gonna bend and break.
nsrt we need pics when you get that lift and tires on!

FIXED A/C

I fixed my A/C today. The compressor was intermittent---Traced it down to a bad connection in relay box4. Took out the A/C clutch relay and cleaned the terminals and applied silicone dielectric grease---PROBLEM SOLVED !!!

I did a really advanced and technical mod to mine today... I had a non-shipped extra key made and picked up a hide-a-key so I can now start using my keypad and leave my keys in the truck.
Having never had a truck with a keypad before, I am a little paranoid about leaving my keys in the truck and locking it so at least with an extra key to unlock the door in a hide-a-key, I know I can get in manually if the electronics craps out on me!!! Big Mod, Major Mod!!! LOL

i thought about putting rear handles in the front doors so theres no lock hole for someone to pick, but then like you said if the batteries die etc, i won't be able to get in.

What did I do to my SuperDuty today?

Washed it, and clean the interior for the first time after about a month and a half of hard landscaping. It nicely revealed all the new scratches and newly acquired very minor dings. This truck is way too nice to work out of.

Since I know SD's have a high theft rate and my '99 (with no security system) in excellent shape, I went on a bit of a security binge.

I bought:
- Viper Alarm system (plus a few sensors)
- Jimmi Jammer
- PunchPlug
- Tailgate lock
- JVC radio unit to go with my freshly installed JBL GX862 speakers

I've thought about getting a Ravelco immobilizer, but I haven't really found any real info on it that's not directly linked to the manufacturer, so that kinda puts me off a bit... I could just make my own immobilizer. How hard can it be?

Nice setup.

Fyi, on the punch plug, you can get handles from a crew cab rear door and replace your front door handles, thus eliminating the lock hole all together for a factory clean look. Something to look into you may like that option better (not sure how much that punch plug was vs a set of rear handles on ebay or Craigslist)

WyoBull:
Did you get the non-chipped key on line, or from a local locksmith. Just what I'm looking for.
