Who has glued in new door weatherstrip?

Man I tell you teardown is a hundred times easier than reassembly, lol. Thank goodness I can come on here with a hundred questions!

So my Dennis Carpenter assembly instructions say start in the bottom center. Well there's nothing to glue to there so I assume the threshold strip holds it in place at the bottom. Now I go to hold it in place and it doesn't exactly fit real nice. I've taken a couple of pictures. I'm not sure if I should glue it tight onto the edge and end up with the "D" hanging out in the corner? Or should I glue the "D" itself nice and tight into the corner but the other side will hang out beyond the metal. And what kind of glue should I use? I have a tube of 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

Good video. Looks like they're shoving it all the way onto the pinch weld. I'm still not sure this is right for my 68. I wouldn't want to get it all glued to find out I can't get my door shut. I'm wondering if the seal is one size fits all years and the 68 pinch weld is not as wide?

I got mine from rockauto. I have a 70 f250 CC CS. On rockauto, they list the same door seals for the 68 and 70. That doesnt prove anything of course. This is the ford part number it references(C7TZ8120530B).

did mine , it was not fun . I had to stretch gasket to length correct .
I glued small spots about 6" apart to start to hold it in place (along with Blue tape)
then when happy with fit went back and lifted a section at a time and added glue .
I used the 3m yellow gasket adhesive .
wd40 works good for clean up if you get a little on somewhere you shouldn't

The gasket shape looks wrong to me, I used contact cement when I painted my truck the first time. I reused the original gasket. This time around I will use new gasket but I hope its the correct shape

That's the same number DC uses except theirs ends with PR, not B. designates pair?

I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive to hold my new seals in about 7-8 years ago. After about 6-7 years of "kabooming" the doors shut, the seals started to work in and let the doors close normally. When I pulled the seals off again this past fall, the adhesive was still holding strong, and I ripped one of the seals.

I have done mine about 3 time and the last 2 times were with 5 yrs apart.

I Ordered the first set from ford the first time and lasted from 1978 to about 06 and started to split the seal so lived. So I always had to slam the doors to get them to latch. I've readjusted the doors a number of times then the last was after installing new door hinge pins.

After spending hrs trying to get the passenger door to close right, I got pissed and ripped out both the door seals.

I think my last seals came from NPD? I looked at DC's was thinking about trying his but then remember a fellow FTE say he had tried a number of seals in his 71 4wd said he had found the best door seal finally.

He recommended the soffseal the, I found at Summit about $32 bucks as, I remember well that guy was right my doors now push closed with out slamming the door any more. Or go to Soffseal.com

The rubber is more like the newer cars door seals, not hard like yesteryear stuff.

.

Got my new door seals from Soffseal today. Here's a comparison of the Soffseal on the left and Dennis Carpenter on the right. I can't help but think Dennis Carpenter sent the wrong part but the packaging is long gone so I can't check numbers. Density of the rubber seam the same. I'll get the Soffseal ones glued in tomorrow and report back.
