Question 1997 to 2006 F-250 Heart Transplant?

My 97' 7.3 is as strong and healthy as the day I bought it 19 years ago- but the body is rusting away (beach town).

I found a good deal on a clean 2006 F-250. Is a transplant possible?

I'd love to have a newer body style with that old reliable engine under the hood...

The swap itself won't be bad. The wiring is gonna be a beach

Sure, it's possible. If you have enough time & money I can install ANY engine.

Do you mean to ask if it's a bolt in swap? Not even close. NOTHING will fit, you're going to have to fab everything. Take the trans, too, you won't be able to bolt the one in the new truck to a 7.3L, and assuming it's an automatic, it wouldn't shift if you could get it to bolt to the engine.

If you like the NBS then then best thing to do would be find you a 99-03 with a bad 7.3 and do the swap with it. Putting the 03-07 headlights, grill and bumper would be a easy swap

Today I just had the mechanic in town ask me the same thing, if I wanted a project. Putting a 7.3 in an 05 that has a 5.4 in it now. Basically what has been said above is the reason I said no. A whole lot of work and money, he'd be better off doing like Mike said.

yes it can be done, but it will not be easy. there is a guy in the IDI forum that pulled a 6.4 out of his truck and put a 7.3 IDI in it. running aftermarket gauges. only problem so far is the glow plug controller died on him.
