Fix for 2 foot driver killing trailer brakes

One of my F450 drivers destroyed 2 sets of brakes on a 10k 2 axle equiptment trailer in 11 months. I found out from others that he always drives with 2 feet. Being the evil thinking wrench I am I decided to fix him. His truck is an 02 F450 so I pulled his gas pedal, mounted a micro switch to it, ran the other side to ground. took that wire and another from the brake sw and hooked them to a back up alarm I buried behind the cluster. Now any time he has the throttle down more than 1/4'' and touches the brake he gets beep beep beep . Time will tell if it works, but at least I feel better lol.

There was a time when an employee trashed your equipment you could fire them.

Or have them pay for the repairs.
Let us know how that works out.

This X 10,000!

I just don't understand the present day mentality of letting this stuff slide. You have a guy here that clearly either doesn't care about company equipment, or is too stupid to grasp the concept. Either way, why in the hell would you want to keep THAT GUY as an employee?

Kick him to the curb. There's enough people out there looking for work to take his place.

Why would you keep someone who obviously does not understand how to drive? My ex-father in law would fire someone if they used the clutch to shift between gears in his Mack dump trucks.

I just want to know if the alarm served its intended function.

Good attempt at changing behavior. Likely futile, but worth a try.

Newer trucks will cut the engine power if the brakes are applied. That is the fix.

Talking to his partner, it seems to have helped. at first it would go off a lot, not so much anymore. He still drives with 2 feet, but anyway I can laugh every time his truck pulls in.

I used to work with a guy that was a two foot driver.

We would laugh all the time when he would drive a truck around the building. You could literally see the truck jerking every couple feet as he drove along.

Absolutely horrible for the equipment, but impossible to change a habit like that.

Simple solution is to make him sit in the passenger side of the truck for a while.....

But then you need to replace said employee. They may be good at everything else and are worth keeping around

With a back up alarm wired up IN THE CAB chances are he's either going to change his habits or lose his mind and quit....
