Painting a free camper shell

My father in law gave me an ugly 8' fiberglass camper shell. I plan to put it on my 96 4x4 F150. What primer and paint would be best for a cheap DIY paint job? I will prepare the surfaces properly. Thanks to anyone out there...

I have painted caps with normal automotive paints and with rattle cans. It's really dependent on the skill level of the applicator and how much time you spend prepping.
