03 Exp-cruise control spotty
After watching, reading and attempting various "fixes" the only thing I've accomplished is raising my blood pressure so I've decided to go this route.
I have a new-to-us 03 Expedition, about 1.5 weeks now. The cruise control has the indicator light on the dash. It's decided to either act in various ways:
A-I'll turn it on and set it and nothing happens
B-I'll set it and it will light and set and then immediately shut off. Sometimes the resume button will get it to reset, sometimes I'll hit set again and it'll light and it either goes off right away or will try to engage, work for anywhere from 1-?? seconds and they goes off again. Eventually it won't respond to anything.
C-It actually sets, lights up and works exactly like it's supposed to. For miles and miles. This happens RARELY.
Just for the record, no amount or combination of yelling, pushing buttons, pounding on buttons or cursing seems to help.
This year/model expedition DOES NOT have the deactivation switch on the master cylinder. Interestingly enough, there is a brake pressure switch that looks somewhat similar but one should not pull this switch because you end up having to bleed all the brakes when your wife goes to leave the next time. The cruise cutoff switch is under the dash on the brake pedal. I did remove the switch and check it for continuity and it toned out.
Does anyone have any knowledge of what my problem might be (lets keep it limited to the cruise control) and how to fix it?
