1952 truck tags OK'ed for current use in Texas

Bought new never-issued 1952 truck plates and have them OK'ed by the State of Texas to use them on my truck.

Can't wait to get it finished so I can hit the road!

That's a great find and motivator. Is the plate narrow or is it the picture?

That's cool! Nice looking tin, and never issued, too. I love the Texas truck plates.

Are there restrictions on use for cars tagged with old plates in TX? In WA, you can use year-of-manufacture plates on a 30+ year old auto, but then it's licensed as a "collector vehicle". There are restrictions on their use, since you don't pay for yearly tabs anymore, but I don't know how strictly that sort of thing is enforced.

I'll check the size of the plate but I thank the picture is correct. They were not long and lean!
I think we have the 25 year deal also but once OK'ed it is good for anything on the highway.

Prior to 1957 there were no federal standards to size and shape of license plates, and many states had some unique examples. Some were large and some were small. The narrow ones like Bill's are common in several states.

Good deal... I've been looking for a set of 49 farm truck plates for mine, but I was told that I needed to check with the county to see if they would let me use them.

On the Internet searching 52 antique truck plates I think. Watch out and don't buy farm plates which are cheaper but cannot be used on the road for usual use.
I looked for a year or so. You might have to repaint a set and check. Lto make sure the number is free to use.
I will try to find where you can check.

In Texas the farm truck plates can only be used for transporting farm products for sale and not going to the Wallmart or car shows where truck plates can be used for anything!

I found a 1949 set of repainted plates for a 49 truck on License Plates - Authentic Antique and Classic License Plates from Turner Plates. They are listed under their repainted plates.
I have not found the site where I found out if this number would be OK for registration in Texas. The DOT might be able to tell you.

I tried to e-mail you but don't know if it went through.

They have a set of repainted 52 truck plates also but be sure and check to see if the numbers are OK to use in Texas since I cannot find the website that allowed you to check.

I became lucky enough to score an original pair of license plates that were issued in 1949 to a local half ton truck. They were hanging on a friends resent deceased father's man cave / garage wall, along with all the many hundreds he had collected.
