The ignition cylinder came out with the key after turning off the vehicle. I got the cylinder into the ignition and I was able to start it and remove the key after stopping (with both hands). How do I fix this problem? I can't figure out how to get the outside silver piece back onto the ignition. Thanks for the help.

 

I have Googled until I am about Googled out!!! Does anyone know how to change out the ignition cylinder? I think that might get me back to where I need to be to repair this. I had a friend that is a mechanic (mainly diesel and big trucks) look at it and he couldn't figure it out either.

 

This is late but I'm sorry...same thing happend to me at 98K miles. Ended up taking to dealer to change..$380 bucks. I was told it would have been double if the repair required the anti theft system or steering column to be changed. You are lucky though I could get the cylinder back in, but could not get the truck to turn off. Did some googling with no luck...took it up the rear at the dealer.
