Red Pinstripes on steel wheels for '88?
I was wondering if anyone knows if the factory steel wheels (argent-styled) for the F150 came without Red pinstripes around the beauty ring at any point during 1988? Almost every '87 to '91 I have seen (including some '80 to '86s) have a red vinyl stripe for those wheels, except for a select few out there, including my '88. They could have been ripped or worn off over time, but I find it hard to believe that there is no trace of a pinstripe on any of the wheels!
I wonder if my truck came from the factory without them. That would make work for me a lot easier; I wouldn't need to hunt down a company who makes them, then apply them by hand!
Does anyone have a 'Bricknose' with wheels like that? Any reason why they might not be there?

1982 - 1989
- beauty rings with 2 red stripes (there are grooves in the rings were the stripes are painted in.)
- center cap has a medallion in the middle that is red and black
1990, 1991
- plain beauty rings, no stripes, no grooves
- center cap has a medallion in the middle that is only black
Capiche?

My rings are apparently the later style (no groove) but if they're later, what if the wheels are later? If the wheels are later, what if my truck had Sport Wheel Covers from the factory instead, etc...
I saved a 1988 Ford Trucks brochure, and the wheels shown there are identical to mine, except for the stripes, of course.
These are my wheels. Do they look later?

Well, it looks like this opens up a new can of worms.

From 1980 - 1986, they were all 15x7. The cheaper "Styled Steel Wheels" were painted white and had a black center cap. The "Deluxe" version were painted Argent (Silver) and featured chrome center caps and beauty rings with the stripes. Starting in 1987, those same "Deluxe" wheels were also available in a 15x8 version. (This is the only wheel that came in an 8" width.) The 15x8 wheels usually came on Broncos or 4x4 models with the larger 31" wheels. These wheels were used up until 1991, but the center cap and the beauty rings were slightly changed in 1990 (see my post above.)

Help with finding 15x8 lariat argent-styles with pinstrips
Ford called those wheels "Deluxe Argent Styled Steel Wheels" or they are sometimes called "Wagon" or "Rally" wheels. They were used from 1982 - 1991 on the upper end "Lariat" models.
