Can a small led light bar replace the fog lights?

A few weeks back, I noticed my driver side fog light housing broke. Granted the fog lights arent that bright anyways, I was thinking of replacing them with a light bar. Could I have the light bar wired up the same way? Would having a bar there cause the engine/tranny to overheat?

Yup...Rigid Industries has some DOT approved lights that work great. They even make a mount to place them in the factory location. I have the light in my bumper, really bright and over power the headlights so make sure you aim them correctly.

Yes. IMO get a spot beam bar only. The flood and flood combo bars not good for on-road use. I have a 20" flood/spot and wish it was a spot only.

Jesus christ those are expensive. I was thinking more about a 50 dollar light bar. Those lights cost more than 4 of my shocks and the steering damper.

Yes I removed both of my fog lights and installed a 24" light bar. Can't remember what brand it is but its way brighter than the headlights and I re-used the original fog light wiring. The 10 amp fuse worked no problem.

First time looking at Rigid lights, eh?

Any good offroad LED will be a bit pricey. Then you have Rigid which takes "pricey" and makes it astronomic.

Don't forget, any old LED won't be approved for on-road use, only offroad.

After getting pulled over in TX by a state trooper because of my light bar; I wired in a dimmer switch so I can keep it low enough for highway use when needed.

they look to be comparable in price to any other quality light.
maybe astronomically priced compared to crappy chicom Ebay lights but then again they produce astronomically more light

I have them in my bumper with the D2 spots and a 30" light bar. First...they are DOT approved, 1 ticket for having illegal lights will pay for them. Also, I am not a fan of all the cool kids driving down the Freeway/Hwy's with light bars on as fogs. This is stupid and very inconsiderate of other drivers. If you plan on just running the light on dark rural roads then have at it. But light bars are NOT for street use while other cars are on the road. That's my 2 cents...but my 10 cents is free. =0)

perfect pattern, excellent cut off, very little bleed. I'd say you get your money's worth out of those

You could always use these guy's products. The brackets alow either a 20" or 10" bar to be used.

Looking to swap my factory fog lights to a led bar. Does anyone have pictures of how it’s set up or even if they have plug and play kits?
