Time for another pic. The body is coming together nicely. Hopefully can post a video of the engine starting up shortly.

schoo, this is the American Express part of my build. I'm doing the running gear but stopped short of learning body work. This shop does more rod than restoration work but agreed to take the project. Yes they are moving very fast and I'm getting what I paid for in terms of quality.

Engine startup

Another milestone although this one was a partial one. We got the engine timed and started up! Unfortunately, the Clifford manifolds had a bit of lack of fit and the result was one intake port had a leak. This baby was running on 4 cylinders! I should have caught it during assembly. Looks like a new gasket and a little filing on the exhaust header to get the right fit and I'll get all 6 to fire.

I do not suggest starting an engine with no exhaust in the middle of San Francisco or any other densely populated area Let's just say I met a neighbor that I've never met before and I've lived in this house 10 years. He demanded I shut if off but we were breaking in the cam....he just had to wait a little.

Congrats on another milestone and the successful break-in. I applaud your willingness to endure the wrath of the neighborhood. Perhaps you can offer rides to your new friends when you are back on the road. Either that or just use the horn alot.

Glad to see you get your truck out of "the cave". Your progress sure is looking good. Us Country Boys are so lucky not having to deal with Neighbors such as yours. Keep up the great work. Dave

Congratulations on fire up!

That is sweet music to the ears, but apparently not neighbour ears.

The engine looks pristine, and the truck is going to be something when its done.

Good work.

Wow, the body man is making very quick progress. They even started priming this week. I was warned our projects can sometimes go to the painter to only be seen again months later! Here goes my original frame and running gear on the trailer to be reunited with the body.

Here I am at the halfway point of the first coat of varnish over the epoxy sealer. I'm a little concerned that this is turning out too nice. I don't want the truck to look like furniture, it's a truck!
