Removing 40/20/40 for Front Console

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2016 F150 XLT 300A equip package. It has all I would ever need in a truck BUT one thing is driving me crazy -- the 40/20/40 "bench" seat.

Is it possible to swap this out with the front console? I searched on the ford parts website and wasn't able to find much. I looked on youtube for "how to" videos thinking someone might of done this, but didnt really find much there either.

Has anyone done it? Is it possible without swapping out the entire front row seat?

Ideally I'd just take out the "20" middle seat and swap in a console.

Thnx guys!

There are a few on eBay, here's one

2015 F150 Center Console OEM New Earth Grey | eBay

Looks like a straight forward swap. Routing the would probably be the most difficult part.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

Nice! I looked on ebay and for whatever reason, couldnt find one. So thank-you.

If you don't mind, what do you mean by routing exactly?

There are AC vents on the back of the console. If you want AC for the rear passengers, you'll need to route the duct work or make sure the seller includes it plus all of the parts needed to install the console.

Ah, gotcha. Thnx for the quick reply. Honestly I don't even care about the rear a/c. Its just for the aesthetics, more cupholders, and storage!

I wonder if anyone has ever successfully done a swap on here for a console.

No one so far. Most want to remove a console and put the jump seat in. The shifter seems to be the sticking point for those swaps. Yours is on the column, so you're good.

I know this is an old post, but has anyone done this yet? I am looking at a Lariat. The only thing I don't like about it is the jump seat. I would like a console with or without shifter. I was just wondering the difficulty in the swap .

Yes, this has been done. I've seen threads where people have switched out the jump seat and installed the center console.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I don't think anyone on here has done it, but I'm on other forums....it has been done. There was a write-up on it, I'll post a link for you. I'm off to a meeting, so just check back here in an hour or so.

There are USB ports and the rear vent ducts to consider here. Also, there are two different kinds.. one with space for the shifter and another without space for the shifter. I have no space for the shifter, that means a lot more storage space. That was exactly why I went specifically for this, it was one of my four requirements along with a V8, 4x4, and 6.5' bed.

OP, here is a link. Note, it's much cheaper to do this if you leave your shifter on the column. Some guys leave the shifter on their column, others have moved the shifter to the center console. That's up to you....but as Wiggums said, you'll want to make sure you buy the right console cover for whichever you choose.

I've seen several of these, but this write-up looks to be comprehensive enough to guide you.

I sure wish someone near Dallas was wanting a center console shifter....I'd trade them mine for their steering column shift!

That so surprising. I would have thought the shifter on the console was preferred. How much more space do you pick up if the shifter is replaced with the tray insert (if it is even possible)? A tiny tray does not seem as if it would be much more storage.

Can you elaborate on why you prefer column shift more? So you would want the jump seat?

I wouldn't call that a tiny tray.. it would fit about three soda cans. That's where I put my phone.. I still have two cupholders on the right side. It's very convenient. The cupholders and the tray on the left both are similar in depth.

I wanted both the column shift and the center console because of the space.
