105k miles, anything to watch for?

I am right at 105,000 miles. This service rotation is oil change/fuel filters (5k oil, 15k fuel). The Diesel Supplement shows 150k for trans flush. My service advisor says to hold off on axle and T-case flushes, not a big deal right now. Is there anything else I should have them pay close attention to?

I'm on my third EGR (factory, replaced twice since) and second radiator. I've had an EGT sensor go out a couple winters ago. I had the blinker control module go goofy around 50,000 or so if I recall correctly....

At 96,000 miles on my Job 1 2011, my biggest concern is dropping a valve! Don't know if it is a legit concern or not.

It is Matt, but don't lose sleep over it. Just make sure you've a good extended warranty!

I'd be changing the trans/transfer case and both differentials.

I'd be watching out for test drives on trucks at the dealer...

Those get expensive quick.

How long have you been on your current fill of coolant after those repairs?

Scott - I'm not pulling all the time though. Lots of highway driving and lots of heavy traffic driving.

As for updating glow plugs - is there a new/redesigned plug? I've heard of injectors popping apart and being digested by the engine, valves dropping, etc. I can't say that I've heard of a failed glow plug. Maybe I just don't recall it if I have.

I have the premium warranty out to 125k. It's paid for itself already, but I suppose I should knock on wood after saying that.

The closest I've had to a mechanical breakdown is an EGT sensor killing the truck in the driveway. I am hoping I don't have any major issues.

Coolant was new with the radiator around the fall of 2014. So maybe at 65-75,000. The message to check the additive showed up last week ironically also. I already mentioned that to my service advisor.

If you don't know if they used distilled water, it's probably due for a change. I know Ford recommends every 45,000 after the factory fill is removed but while I am not smarter than Ford engineers, I'm choosing to push mine to 60,000 or so because I know distilled water was used. Ford had to replace my coolant after tests failed a few years ago at my expense and then it was replaced again under warranty (with distilled) after my primary water pump failed about 10k later, if that. Both systems are not cheep to flush and refill.

Bigred, you are correct. The alert on the 4.2" LCD screen is based on mileage and some usage data. If you haven't had it tested in a long time, it may be worth doing that.

Others are more educated on the glow plugs than I am, but from what I recall early 11s are 2 peice? They separate and digest in cylinders

If the tip of a glow plug breaks off, it destroys the engine.
