390 Transmission 4x4 help
Friends,
I have a 1963 F250, the 292 is gone and has been a replaced by a 390, and I dumped manual trans and put in a three speed C6. I'm driving the truck a lot more than I expected, and I drive it on the freeway a lot more than expected. I need help, recommendations selecting a new transmission for the truck. I'd like to get something with 5 gears and it has to be 4x4 compatible. Any guidance you guys can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chad

You want to go back to a manual trans?
NV4500 can be made to work.
There are no Ford sourced overdrive transmissions (manual or auto) that bolt up without an adapter to the FE.
If you are going back to a manual I could search out the thread on an NV4500 switch, which iirc, was in an FE powered truck.
