Vac Lines / Choke Help
On top of the rear half of the Valve cover is where one vac line hooks up. This little device as been melted it looks like and has a small hole.
What is this piece?
Also The line going from the Vac Manifold (IDK the name) to the Brake Cylinder ... i guess .... on the manifold side it is connected to a REALLY small outlet. Can I change this without an issue? Attached photo.. It is currently connected to the bottom left Inlet. I used 5/8' tubing all around.
Choke::::
If you notice on the vacuum manifold it looks like a red wire is clipped? Is this part of the choke? And if you look at the front of my carb it looks like a Choke is suppose to be there but isn't. Looking for whats missing here.
One place to check for leaks is those rubber caps - I have found what appear to be good caps actually be rotted and crumbling. Finding the leak - one way is to spray carb cleaner around the connections, if your engine changes (runs faster or bogs, depending on brand of carb cleaner) you have found your leak. Failing that, put a vacuum gauge on it and start pulling/plugging one line at a time - your vacuum should jump when you plug off the leaking line.
Not that familiar with that carb but the pic you show where you think the choke should be would actually be inside the air cleaner - never seen a choke mounted there. That wire could be for an electric choke; I'd check if it is hot and get it trimmed/insulated ASAP.
