Running an '03 F250 &.3L hard makes it run better??

I got my first truck last May and havent any problems - kudos to the previous owner. Saturday, I took the wife to Ikea down in Boston - about a 3 hr drive each way. New Bilsteins 4600 and new Discovery 305/70 16. Anyway, most of the drive was hiway and most of it 70+mph, except where the speed limit said (suggested?) otherwise. Truck ran fine. Despite the speed, the lie-o-meter said 17.x mpg. Was able to fuel up back in Maine on my way home (at just under 1/4 tank). The truck was feeling so nice - smoother ride, nice day... boost to 25, EGT never over 600, and took it to 90 mph for a mile or two. No hiccups (I'm not superstitious - brings bad luck if you are). And today, the truck just seems to run better in a nonspecific way. Sort of like running a gasser hard and clean off the carbon on the sparkplugs kind of thing. But no spark plugs.

Just my imagination or does a nice run like that do the 7.3 good?

Hard work does anything good In the HEUI diesels I don't know if running them hard cleans up the injectors a little and burns some crap out of the oil or what exactly it is, but they do run better getting worked compared to letting them sit.

On the 6.0 the VGT getting worked out and the EGR valve getting burnt off helps, not sure what exactly a 7.3 would benefit from specific to it other than the injectors and oil.

hey texastech -- you dont feel the burn!

The truck is my DD; about 20 min (25 minutes if I catch rush-hour traffic) with about 15 min stretch at 45-65mph. Not sure what happened, but something liked being run fast. Will do it again. Way more fun that buying some snake oil .....
