That's what I do too.
To add to that I spread it liberally around the terminal, specifically where the terminal meets the plastic battery housing. In many cases terminals corrode because the gases/liquids leak at that seam causing corrosion and growth. From my experience the grease definitely eliminates it but at the very least it has to help.

I am under the same impression. Coat all of the contact surfaces, clamp it together. My hope is the the grease fills in the voids and prevents the oxidation.

I wanted to thank TooManyToys and Y2KW57 for their insight and detailed posts. I realize this post is about 6.0 but figured you all might like to see the end results. New Denso gear reduction starter and new 160A with 110A at idle alternator all new battery cables from customboatcables.com

Every ground connector in the engine compartment was cleaned of corrosion and reassembled with the NO-OX-ID Jack mentioned in his video.

Nice application. I’ve not seen those terminals before, definitely at lot of connection capability!

Where did you purchase those? And my second thought was, those need to be covered if I install them. I hate surprise sparkles.

I gold-plated a battery terminal once. Trouble was, I was wearing the ring at the time. How I never lost that finger...

@'86F350ken and @NorthwesternCowboy have either of you had the chance to do these modifications?

@Bently_Coop Are we just talking replacing battery cables and terminals here? If so, then I have not. I've got 14V and no slow drain with truck shutdown, so the EE inside me tells me I've got no reason to touch anything.

There's no catastrophic failure for not doing any of this.

Larger main cables get a little better battery life.
Cleaning all the grounding points ups the voltage a few tenths if you have an issue with that.
Same with an extra cable off the driver's battery.

Small improvements if you want, but not necessary, especially if you already have near battery voltage at the FICM and OBD monitor.

Adding two cables assisting with balance between batteries so one does not die before the other and improving electrical flow during startup.

Is this what you were talking about at the GTG?
I'll need to read up on this thread to see what I need to add to my list of stuff to do! Hehe

I still need to get my LED fogs in, my projector headlights, coolant filter, all new brakes, install stock airbox and do a oil change! Man what a list!
