rear axle swap

My boy has a 1981 f250 with what I believe to be a semi floating Dana 60 rear axle. The ring gear has some broken teeth and what I am wondering is if a newer full floating axle from a later 80's early 90's I believe a sterling 10.25, will swap into it with no modification. Any information would be great! Thanks

I think the spring perches are in the same place, so I think the axle should attach to the springs fine. I don't know about the shocks, but that shouldn't be too hard to fab if needed. Brake lines shouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure if the front / rear proportioning will be right on with the newer rear brakes. Likely the "snout" of the diff is a little different, so it might require driveshaft work (shortening is my guess).
