OEM trailer brake controller 2015 expedition

Recently picked up a 2015 expy EL for a family vehicle, it's an XLT with no tow package, part of the deal we worked with the dealer was that they would install the trailer break controller for cost+labor.
A few weeks ago they called and had the part in so they took the dash apart and installed it but according to the salesman the computer wouldn't recognize it so they took it out and left everything as is.

Doing some research today and I found out the newer F150s have to be reflashed after the TBC install so I would like to have them try that.

Would most techs be willing to try a refresh and see if the ECU would accept the TBC?

I picked up a hopkins 4 flat and 7 blade assembly that is supposed to plug directly into the OEM harness, it should work with the OEM TBC.

That is exactly what should of happened.

A reflash of the pcm. They have to enable it.

I'd go back to them.

Hard for folks here to say what someone at a dealership would do. I would talk to them and ask.

Cool, I'll make an appointment and talk directly to the tech rather than the salesman.

If the dealer we bought from won't play ball then I'll probably take it to the dealer that I used to work for, we had some good techs.

Did the discussed fix work? I have a 2015 Ford expedition XLT without the factory brake controller. I took it to the dealer to have it connected and they were not able to do it so I wonder if this will work. Thanks for your help.

OEM TBC foe Expedition

Hi, I'm also interested to see if the dealer could flash the computer and get the OEM TBC to work. I have a 2017 Expedition XLT that did not come with the tow package but all the right fuses in the fuse box. I wired a 7 blade trailer adapter on the back and would like to install an OEM brake controller.

Of the two dealers that I tried to work with neither one was able to guarantee what I was suggesting woodwork. I had even contacted ford service and they would not guarantee that it would work. They told me to contact the dealer can give them a service number. I finally just put in the prodigy three brake controller in it seems to be working fine.

I don't see how anyone else made out but I just got a quote for the TBC to be installed on my work truck. It's a 2017 Expedition EcoBoost. I removed the cubby panel and the plug is in the dash for the controller. I've checked the module with Forscan and the TBC can be turned on so I should be good to go. This truck didn't come with the 7 round plug just a flat4 plug so the quote has listed the adapter plug/pigtail. The new receptacle is specific to Expedition and has both flat4 & 7 round RV plug.
Now I wait for approval to get it done.
