hello from Wisconsin

Just wanted to say hello to everybody and introduce myself. I recently brought home ( with my wifes permission of course ) a 1960 ford f100 2wd shortbed stepside. Previously a farm truck from California and a family member acquired it in wisconsin and its been sitting garaged, not running for the last approx 10 - 13 years. Its in good shape but a mess right now. Unfortunately the family member had to sell it, so im gonna try and rescue it. According to the VIN it came with a I6 but somewhere a V8 was put in. Not sure the size. Seems to be a 4spd trans but has a lever next to it that seems when i have the truck in gear and move the lever forward the truck rolls as though its not in gear. Im pretty sure it looks like a fab'ed up cross member for the trans so im assuming thats not stock either. So all the plugs and wires were removed at some point, so before i do anything im gonna put some MMO down the cylinders and let it sit for a week and see if i can turn it over by hand. Im also gonna try and figure out the make, size, or year of engine and trans. Well, sorry to ramble on and im sure i'll have plenty of questions for all of you. I have pics of the truck, just need to figure out how to get them on here. Also, any advise, tips, or questions are always welcome. Thanks everyone.......Jason

Looks like a great starting point. As was said post some pics of the engine and trany setup, we can likely figure out what it is.

WOW, it finally worked!!! Ok, here is the engine that isnt original to my tuck. Im not sure the year or size. I'll also get pics of the trans and others also.

Also the dates on the pics are not correct. I didn't feel like changing it.....
