239 V8 1949 FAN NEEDED, suggestions?
My Fan is dinged up a bit and cannot find new replacement fan. Fan is 18 !/2 inches in diameter,6 blade, and has 8 holes around the center hole. Just got new fan spindle bearing so want to keep it in new condition with decent fan blades.
Anyone rebuild the fan blades, any suggestions? Thank you.

That's a tough one. The 6-blade fans were an option on the biggest trucks. You could surely live with a standard 4-blade fan, but no one sells them either, AFAIK. Buying a used one is a crap-shoot.
You may be able to adapt a universal 18" fan, like this: Hayden 3618 - Cooling Fan Blade | O'Reilly Auto Parts
I've done this and the problem is that modern fans are centered on the hub by the center hole; and our trucks don't have that shaft to center on. So the bolt circle has to be dead on.

I agree with Ross, I have a 6 on mine and it is overkill as a daily driver. Probally a good idea if you are pulling a load.
I have seen a few both 4 and 6 blade fans on eBay.
This guys price is way out there but serves as an example. I have been able to talk folks down on price with NOS psrts that don't sell because of crazy high prices.
There are a couple of guys on ford barn who dismantle trucks for resale.

thank you 'number dummy' and others for your reply. I ordered a fan from Klimesh that they identified as B7Q 8600 so I think I'm good. My 6 blade fan had a 7/8 inch hole in the middle surrounded by 8 holes (3 1/8 diameter on center of holes) and each of the eight holes between 3/16 and 1/4 inch in diameter. This new fan had a 1 1/2 hole in the middle, the eight holes as described above and 4 larger holes between the eight smaller ones for I imagine some other application. A lot of holes! Thanks again
239 v8 flathead 1949 with fan bolting to my new fan spindle bearing from Van Pelt.
the fan is in the mail, expensive....180 plus shipping , but I'm ready to move on.
