Oil related questions

1. What is the oil capacity of the V10? (It's not listed in my owners manual.)

2. What weight oil is recommended? (Also not listed in my owners manual.)

3. Are the oil pressure senders finicky? Mine doesn't seem to read low or activate the warning light until there's about 1.5qt of oil remaining. (Don't ask. I do plan to replace it, when the ground temperatures get warmer.)

Mine takes 6.5 quarts.

5w-30 oil or 5w-20.

That oil gauge I believe is pretty much a dummy gauge. Keeps tabs on that oil level. Seems like they tend to burn about 1 quart/1000 miles. Some burn less some burn more.

Assuming it's the same oil pressure sending (OPS) unit use on the 6L - the OPS is a simple switch that only looks for 7 PSI and it IS prone to failure, if you eyeball the OPS and it's covered in oil it needs replacing.

After the first oil change (where I discovered the EX's penchant for consuming oil) I have kept a close eye the oil levels. It seems that everything is ok through the first 2500 miles after a change. Then it takes a quart every 800 miles or so.

In regards to he the first oil change, I noticed at about 4400 miles, the gauge got wonky. Everything would be fine, but hit a bump, or take a hard turn, and the gauge bottomed out, and the light came on. Within a minute, the gauge comes back up to normal, and the light goes out.
