I made a slight bit of progress... ...very slight.
I finally managed to extricate my pile of parts from the back yard and get it stuffed in the garage. I've made a few other small accomplishments as well; separated the automatic trans from my engine, fabbed some engine lift plates, started wire brushing the engine, received a replacement oil pan and gasket, etc. I also fixed my suspended gas heater in my garage.

Hopefully now that its in the garage and closer to tools I can get some work done in the evenings. My plan is to start fabricating engine mounts. Here's a few shots. Naturally once I got things in the garage I had to set in it and make "vroom vroom" noises. I must have put several hundred miles on the thing today....lol

It's very clear to me that your garage is running low on "stuff".

I've been there, and it is not hurting for stuff!

Looking good, Bobby!

Thanks guys

Yea, I seem to have a problem with stuff. Its not a wonder I can't get anything done, I spend half my time doing the great crap shuffle.
I can't seem to get rid of anything, but I've become a master of restacking and re-organizing getting more and more of it to fit in tiny spaces.....lol

Plenty of room. I've done a lot in a lot less room and even out in the driveway in the Wisconsin winter.

Hot rod is looking good. You'll have the engine in it by summer and wouldn't be surprised to hear some real vroom-vrooms coming out of her.

Lookin' good goin vroom vroom. Been doin' that a lot lately. Unfortunately I don't have the space to get my truck back in the the shop. Guess my daughters' extra furniture took precedence. Someday....

The Vroooom-Vroooom Ritual is an involuntary response residing in our DNA. Sorta like when my Pups (or me for that matter) howl when they hear a siren.......

A few baby steps...
I fabbed some quickie engine lift plates and a keyhole plate for a chain so that I can lift this Straight 8 easier. I figured I'd have to hang this thing over the frame quite a bit to figure out engine mounts, etc. so I took a few minutes to make these plates.
I swung the beast of the rails and tried to figure out engine mounts and where my steering box needs to be.
Its not much progress, but its a little....

Wow! That mounting point looks to be about the center of the engine.

They are just in front of the center, maybe at about the 1/3 range. Driver side should be straight forward. On the passenger side the oil pump is in that space;

WOW! Is it just me and the way I perceive that picture, or does the engine mount actually surround the oil pump? Seems a little unusual.

Looks cool! That engine looks like it weighs 1000 pounds, that is real iron there.
