Well I got the engine in and it started up just fine. Now I need to assemble the sheet metal, radiator and grille. I have temporary plug wires and caps off of anther old engine on the motor now since my correct wires have not arrived as of yet.
Here is a question for all of you, is it possible to install the oil breather/fill tower and fuel pump and miss the push rod but still have the fuel pump function?
FYI,
I wanted to warn/remind all of you that when installing new front engine mounts, do not use the bolts, washers and or nuts that come with the rubber parts. I have had some bad experiences with them, the threads on the nuts do not match the bolts and or both are soft metal. I have re-used my bolts, nuts and washers when ever possible, utilizing the new rubber parts only. The original Ford washers and nuts are tougher and fit better.

fuel pump push rod
I have a small ticking going on back there but it could be a valve adjustment thing.
Do you happen to have a breakdown/diagram of the following 2 things?
clutch/brake pedal spring assembled locations
transmission mounting block blow up view which would include the bolts/washers, etc..

Hey Bernette I've got an idea for you. When I was having a problem with a noisy lifter my " engine builder " suggested it was a noisy fuel pump. So I filled the carb by starting my truck and then shut it down.
I removed the carb and push rod. I had enough gas in the carb to run the truck to show that the noise was still there. This might help you eliminate the fuel pump to aid in you investigation. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Thanks for the photos and feedback, great to have a good site to come to for help. I had forgotten where the brake/clutch springs go. It had been a while since I had pulled the engine and I forgot to take photos. I did take photos of the linkage for the PTO levers and linkage which was a great help
Very close to completion but shoot me the next time I think I should deal with the sheet metal without the help of another person to align. The parts on the trucks are much larger and unwieldy than the pickups and or cars. Lots of bolts that have to be correctly aligned in order to get the desired results. I needed 6 arms to hold the bolts, nuts and position the various pieces. Took much longer than I thought. Still have some more bolts and alignment to go, maybe I will get it done next weekend.
Also the new radiator(n.o.s.duel core option for 41) is much larger and will require some extra hose elbows to make it work. I guess back then you could just drop by your local Ford Dealer and pick that stuff up for pennies on the dollar.
