Transplant from a '14 to an '11 with problems

I have an 2011 f350 6.7 diesel. The glow plug ruptured causing damage to the chambers. I recently bought a new 2014 6.7 diesel engine had this motor installed. When I received the truck back it shifts 1,2, 3 gear and jumps to 6. Any ideas on what the mechanics done wrong or forgot to do?

Post this in the Super Duty forum, the engineers aren't going to answer this type of question.

Hopefully one of the the diesel techs that frequent this site will chime in, I know we have at least one that has done the transplants before. And a 2horses just had her 2011 engine replaced with a new engine courtesy of ford and I want to say it was either a 2015 or 2016 block.

It might be a good ideal to have ford update your computer to the latest calibrations. Should cost much.

Another engine failure - glow plugs, valves, who knows. Hope you get it all worked out.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I'd take it back to the Ford dealer and have them check it out. If it's not shifting right there are likely trouble codes that can tell you where to look.

Any warranty from the people that did the installation?

I would have thought they'd have test driven it before handing it back. Did it shift correctly when you first got it? Did they give you the chance to test it yourself before you took it back? When I said hubby and I test drove the snot out of Evelyn before signing off on her repair job, trust me, the new engine was completely broken in by the time we were done.

What happens when you put it in manual mode and work through the gears?
