Putting a 1995 body on a 1987 frame and drive train

So I have a 1995 f150 with a blown motor but a great body. But I got a 1987 with a crap body and a good motor. Plus it's 4x4. Are these two years yearly fairly interchangeable? Has anyone done a similar swat? Any tips be appreciated.

the body will bolt on, but you will have issues with the electrical system. the 87 is mechanical speedometer, the 95 is electronic speedometer. and depending on what engine is in the 87 it could be carburated with no electronics.
the 95 was computerized engine control.

Is there a way to switch from mechanical speedometer to electric?

depends. if the trans has a cruise control VSS in the tailshaft, you can tap into there for VSS signal.
some 87's also had a sensor in the rear axle for RABS that can be used for speedo signal
what engine and trans is in the 87 frame?
and what engine/trans combo is in the 95?

the 95 has a straight 6 and a e40d transmission and the 87 has a 302 and I'm not sure on transmission It does have cruise control tho.

ok. 87 will be computerized with fuel injection. so even if there is no RABS sensor in the rear axle, you will be able to take the signal for the VSS off the cruise sensor in the tailshaft of the transfer case. at the most, you will have to do a little bit of creative wiring, and you may have to swap out the computer for a 302 unit instead of the 300 unit. engine sensors should not be that bad either, at the worst you my have to get an underhood harness for the 302 for the 95 wiring.

Awesome thanks. I'll start swapping parts over and if I get stuck I'll just come ask. Best way to learn is just to try right? Thanks for the info.
