New truck: my big red beast!

Hi all,
I just bought my first 4x4 last Saturday (never needed one before), and I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of it. Been busy workin, workin, and... more work. Yeah I know, exciting life I lead, huh? I bought a 2012 F-150 XL RC/LB with the base 3.7 V6 with 4-wheel drive to replace my aging and worn out 2006. I also needed a truck with an automatic so my wife could drive it if needed, and she never liked the basic nature of my 2006, which I ordered with crank windows. What was the ideal truck for me when I was single suddenly became somewhat less than ideal when I got married! She tolerated my old "Hoss" for a few years as long as it wasn't costing us anything.
So I bought this one last weekend, a 2012 with 28,000 miles for just over $19,000. Maybe not everything we wanted, but everything we need. At that price, I couldn't pass it up. It still has power windows, locks, and mirrors with the cd player. About the only thing it doesn't have inside that I was hoping to get is the Sync. Oh well, I can live without that.
A few upgrades are in short order: step rails for easier entry and exit, especially for my wife; seat covers, BETTER TIRES-Hankooks suck!; nicer wheels; maybe a spray-in bed liner. If anyone has a set of 17" XLT wheels or something you want to sell, please PM me. After I sell the '06 I'll have the money for said upgrades.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. What really surprises me about this truck is the 3.7 motor. Compared to my old 4.2 especially, that little thing really scoots! I've learned I really have to watch my speed because it will get away from me. Much more than a lot of older V8's. So far it seems to be hitting some really good fuel economy numbers too! I don't know yet if I have the 35 gallon fuel tank or not.
If anyone knows the axle code, I'm trying to determine if I have the limited slip or not. I know it's a 3.73:1, but is it open or limited slip? According to the build tag, I have axle code 26. Can anyone decipher that? Thanks again.

Is it open? Thanks Nassty. I kinda figured it might be since according to the Car Fax the truck originally came from a dealer in Ohio, but was shipped to a dealer just over the PA line to be sold new. The previous owner seemed to take really good care of it because the truck is spotless inside and out!

Okay so here's another thing I have to get used to on this new truck, the capless fuel fill system. I filled the tank yesterday for the first time since I bought it (It does have the 35 gallon tank, by the way), and wanted to pour in some Marvel's Mystery Oil to clean the fuel system real good not knowing how the previous owner had taken care of it. I'm not sure how much actually got in the tank, and how much ran down the outside of the filler-neck and onto the ground! What's the purpose of this capless fill system anyway? The problem was I couldn't get the metal tab to move out of the way freely at the top of the filler neck. If it makes any difference, I was doing this while the truck was parked on a slop in my driveway.

There should be a special funnel that you need to use...probably behind the seat unless the previous owner kept it.
If you can't find it you can buy one at Walmart for $1.88. It won't be in the section with the other funnels. It should be near the STP fuel treatment.

That's a really nice looking truck Blue 2006. I see you are from Pittsburgh. If you look on Craigslist there is a set of the chrome 17" wheels with tires from the 04-08 trucks. IIRC they are listed at $300. I'd like to get a set and put my 2011. But I need to wait a bit. Too many other things needed and wanted to get first.

Alex, I do live in Pittsburgh and I noticed you live near there. I saw the build thread on your 2011 "Black Betty" that you had posted last year. Sweet lookin' truck pal!
Anyway I just ordered a set of chrome step bars for "Big Red" today. I found a set on EBay for $107 w/ free shipping. With the wife's permission I went ahead and ordered them. Should have them in by the beginning of next week. Installing them is another matter! LOL I'll do the installation myself, I just need the time to do it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/301357004970?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITThe wheels, bed liner, and seat covers will have to wait till I sell "Old Hoss". That's gonna hurt, had him for 10 years. I feel like I'm selling a member of the family.

I understand that feeling blue. That's why I never sell mine. They're just waiting to get full restorations. And FWIW if you ever want to meet up we can always arrange that. Especially if you want/need a hand installing those step bars. Thanks for the compliments on the truck.
