Tilt steering won't stay locked now?
Hi there-
I just replaced the actuator arm and the key lock cylinder in my 1987 Ford F-250 6.9 L diesel. I'm putting everything back together and now the tilt steering won't stay locked in place so the steering column wiggles around?
Ugh ugh ugh. what did I do wrong? I sawed off the end of the actuator arm in order to get it in, which lots of people seem to do...Why is it still wiggling around?
Thanks
Lizzie

No, I did not. I just took everything apart and discovered that the locking lever was not underneath the wire that the little gears fit against. SO I had to hammer out the pin again and am now trying to get the spring and the locking lever back in and lined up with the hole to drive the pin back in, which is a real bear. Do I have to connect it to the tilt lever on the side of the column? There doesn't appear to be any way to do that, and I'm not sure what causes the wheel to tilt if I want it to- there's a lever on the side, but is that for the tilt?
