1992 f150 driving rough

Hi guys,
I just finished a rebuild on the top end of my 302 on my 1992 f150. I made sure to take my time and double check everything. It now is running strangely, and the RPMs bounce from 700 to 1100 when it first starts. After it warms up, it will idle high in park at about 1100 rpms, and die when stopped in drive (at a stop sign or light.) It runs okay when my foot is on the gas. I figured it was a vacuum leak, but all the lines are in good shape. What could it be?

phnguyk is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
TPS? When I did the 3G upgrade, dust from cutting the alternator bracket got up into it and did the same thing.

The other suspect is the map sensor on the passenger side upper firewall. When working correctly pulling the vacuum line off will instantly stall the motor.

All your symptoms are classic vacuum leak related. Rolling idle, high idle, etc.

I would start with checking for codes first. See if there is something the computer thinks is wrong.

Since you had the top end apart verify all the gaskets are in place, i.e. throttle body, EGR, upper intake, lower intake, etc.

I'm guessing upper to lower intake manifold gasket is bad.
