Question 1999 Ford F-150 XL Super Cab 4.2 V6 Engine Issues

Hi there guys an gals. I have this as my first truck an I bought it on Craigslist for $550.00 . The guy I bought it from towed it to me with an clean title as it was an abandoned at a military base here in South Carolina . An as I looked it over it wasn't in to bad of shape inside an out just the normal wear an tear. With a few things that were broken that I have either replaced or removed until an later date . Now I have notice the oil drain plug was removed so I bought a new one an added oil tried to crank it an it would not run. So I replaced the plugs an as a note the old ones were the worst I have ever seen beyond belief . Then I got it to run . Runs somewhat okay . But after it ran a while not to were it got hot just maybe 2 minutes if that an checked the oil I just put in an it was milky. So I did a compression test an it confirmed that the constant psi was 90 lbs to 115 lbs on all 6 cylinders an I checked the plugs that showed no sign of water or oil on the plugs . Now I need to know is it a intake problem head gasket problem or both . An what should you suggest I should do . Plus I noticed there is a low end rattle when the motor is running an should I just change the bearings on the crank or remove the crank an get it checked an trued if need be an then get the proper size bearings at standard or over sized . Because I do not want to do alot of topend work an the motor tears up because I didn't do any low end repairs an ruin a good engine . Thank you all . I need all the help I need . Because I needed my truck on the road since last year all the help will be grateful thanks .

I would say it is time for a complete rebuild. If it where me I would look for a good used engine first.

Well I have a friend that has a motor for $700 . But I already have parts for the topend like headgasket set with intake gaskets valve cover gaskets headgaskets and head bolts plugs wires oil oil filter air filter an transmission filter an gasket an fluid an valve stem seals an a list with 300 to 400 in parts not including what the machine shop will cost an in total I believe after the other parts an machine shop it will be up to about 700 to 900 if the crankshaft isn't gaulded up an I can get it trued up an than I can order the proper bearings an I would rather keep the original engine so I can have a numbers matching truck an afterwards if I wanted to sell it at a later date it would be worth more in which its still worth more than what I paid for it but I'm not planning on selling it anytime soon though because I need the transportation to an from work an I have only found Rock Auto for the best price in parts for my budget but I am still wishing I didn't have to completely rebuild but I see for it to be right I'm going to have to an I hate that it is going to take even more time because I'm always fixing everyone else's rides an not my own .

I also noticed a problem when trying to crank it sometimes the THEFT light comes an I turn the key an no response . I take the key out flip it an try again an nothing happens . Now if I put the truck in neutral an turn the key it will crank and after so doing that it will continue to work fine turning the motor over. Would anyone know what the cause of that problem is . Because I don't want to be in a Emergency situation an have that problem happen again . An then be stuck like a rock in a hard place .

The start circuit goes through the trans selector switch at the side of the transmission.
It closes the circuit in Park and Neutral.
You have loose control cable/linkage, faulty trans switch or the switch needs position adjustment.
Good luck.
