'86SEFI SWAP in a '53 Merc M100
Well this is my first posted question here folks and I admit I'm out in the deep end, way over my head!

I've taken a 5.0L SEFI/AOD Driveline from a '86 Lincoln MarkVII, actually, I pulled it over 2 years ago. My memory, and some of my tags seemed to have fallen off and I feel more than a little challenged grafting the engine and the EEC-IV computer control system harness to my E-Z Wire Main Harness, particularly the relays.

I've read and re-read Donald Haulsee's 1998 FTE, article on Installing a '87-'93 SEFI/AOD in a '61-'79 F100 and this has been extremely helpful, even for a 1st time Resto-rodder like myself. I still have a number of unanswered questions.

1. I think I inadvertantly tripped the Inertia Safety Switch ...
(a) - can this be reset?
(b) - if it can't is it necessary to have in the loop?

2. A friend has provided me with the wiring diagram for the '86 Mark VII...
Is it possible to get a diagram or exploded view of the vacuum plumbing ?

3. Is there anywhere on the net wherer I can I.D. Ford Part #'s?

E7EF9F479A1A - 8 D-21 E, EGEF-9F479-A2A, E2EB 19E609 AA
are relays I believe but I'm not sure.

If you can stear me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm sure I'll have more questions but I'll keep it simple for now.

53merc, If you are set on keeping the EFI I would look to the aftermarket for a harness to adapt it to your truck. I used the same in my 53 but did not retain the F.I., converted to carb. It,s ironic, but I'm converting to TPI in my 40 Ford coupe. I just dislike the appearance of the Ford F.I. unit. I did puchase an aftermarket harness for the TPI. Joe

Just push the (usually) white button back down to reset it. Whether or not you keep it is up to you, it's purpose is to cut power to the fuel pump if you get in a wreck to reduce the risk of fire.

Thanks Joe & Chad for the quick responses!

I've been friggin' around with the SEFI so long I feel committed to completing the install at this point and will decide about keeping it after some run time...
I agree about the looks, The TPI is a cleaner look and the Ford Distributor up front is aesthetically displeasing to the eye.... I just liked the idea of putting a Ford in my Ford and a neighbour, an old hot rodder from way back knew of this Lincoln and said it "was the way to go" ...he has always put "orange engines" in his rides, like an '88 IROC Camaro engine in his '35 Ford Sedan Hot Rod!... IS the Ford SEFI more complex a swap than a Chevy TPI?

Someone on my F100 Canada group suggested I could just cut out the Inertia Switch... the one I have if I'm not mistaken has a black plunger type button in an approx. 3"x4"x8' black box. I tried pushing it again but it stays "slack"...it has no power to it at present.
