Turbo replaced by the dealer on 3/13…

Pulsing to see what you think... I picked up 2011 F350 built on 4/10 with 98k on it in 2014. The turbo was replaced by the dealer on 3/13 when the truck had 84k on it. Presently the truck has 117K on it.

Do you think the ford dealership put the updated turbo on it in 2013?

There is no updated turbo for the 11-14 trucks. They replace it with the same piece of junk. If you want a 2015 turbo, then call Midwest diesel. They we're the first to put a 2015 turbo on the 11-14 trucks. I had my turbo replaced by the dealer at 22,800 miles, if I had the money I would have got the 2015 kit. It's on my to do list.

They replaced it with an updated turbo bearings. So it is good to go based upon that. The larger turbo you don't have. Nor do I.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am ok with the small turbo I just want to be sure I am not looking at the failure of the original turbo. I know the turbo part number they put in ended in a "A" and ford is up to a "C" from what I have gathered.

I am changing out the glow plugs this weekend and the sending unit in the fuel tank as my gauge is all over the place on the true fuel level.

What are your thoughts?

Or in all cases has it been a valve issue that fails and takes out everything and people are blaming it on the glow plugs?

It's a valve issue. I wouldn't worry about the glow plugs.

That is some crap news for sure. Are you saying it is only a matter of time for my early release 6.7 that I will have a valve failure?

My 2011 blew at 122,000. Valve issue, just like Evelyn. If you search it out, my situation has a couple threads from back in 2012.

I would suggest looking into the repairs of the truck a little deeper. They told you about the turbo, but what else?

Maybe they did a replace due to the valves? If so then you would be good to go.

Updated turbo bearings and valves.

I wouldn't sweat it - just drive it and be happy. Its not like they all blow up. If you are concerned, buy an aftermarket warranty or engine insurance.

senix I followed up with the dealer and they could not tell me much more than the print out from the warranty history.

I do know the truck was Cameron Steele truck.

Thank you guys for all of the info. I am going to drive it and enjoy it. I am a maintenance freak and do not beat on my truck so let’s see what happens. I look at it like this... If you take your family out to dinner or on a vacation to an all-inclusive vacation destination and you had a good time you rarely jump online to state that upon your return home. BUT if you had a crap experience we are by default going to use the resources at hand to state it (forums, Facebook, BBB, etc.). There are 1000s of the early model 6.7s out there and I am sure there are 1000s of happy owners and some that are not happy.
