Alternator ??????

Why do most go with this 3g one and not a 1 wire unit? Its simple and you can lose more ugly wiring. Just wondering is all,im going with a new 1 wire direct replacement from JEGS. THANKS Guy's.

Not sure. I went with a 160 amp one wire Chevy alternator. All I had to do was drill out one mounting hole do a 7/16 bolt would go through it. The Chevys use a 3/8" bolt.

Bud please post up your Jegs part # and the process, with pics of course.

Lots of 3G threads that might have your answer? Sorry I do not.

I'll take a stab at it. The 3g can be sourced at the salvage yard at low cost, can put out 135+ amps, it is a Ford part and can be adapted to an OE harness including power for the electric choke and remote voltage sensing.

I needed more than stock but didn't need 135+ amps and wanted new so I went with a Summit one wire 100 A. It has GM guts in a Ford compatible case. With a short heavy charge wire to the nearby fender relay, lack of remote sensing is not an issue. I used 6 gauge for the charge wire.
