I tightened everything up better and the power problem went away. But the drain is still there 0.19amps. When I pull the fuse it goes away. I have checked everything I could find but I don't see a short any where. Surely some one else has had this problem.

.19 amps seem pretty low.

I agree, less than 1/5 of an amp, this could just be for the internal electronic "keep alive" circuit (if the GEM has such a thing?).

These batteries should be able to sustain that kind of draw for a long, long time.

I measured the amp draw on my batteries--.3 amps. Either your problem has gone away or you had a bad battery or two. .2 amps is very normal.

Another thought==you could have an intermittent (oh no!!) problem. Typical failures that cause these problems are relays with contacts that occasionally stick in the closed or on position, or an intermittent capacitor or other electronic device in a timing circuit. This could allow one of the timed power off circuits like interior lighting to turn on and off without you knowing about it.

But, I suggest you hook up your batteries and drive it normally and see if you still have a problem. Even batteries that test good, can have internal problems. You might have had a bad battery.

The simple way to measure current on a given fuse is to remove the fuse and place the meter leads into the fuse socket. The meter needs to be configured to measure current.

I haven't worked on the truck lately and it stays inside out of the weather most of the time. If I leave the batteries connected they will discharge in just a few hours.
most of the time I see batteries discharged in a few hours it is a faulty alternator, 0.3 amps will not drain 1,800 amps in a few hours.

Power draw

I pulled all the fuses one at a time and when I pulled fuse #15 (5amp fuse) under the dash it went to 0.02amps. So from this I am guessing this is where the problem is. My book says it controls, stop lamp switch, GEM, PCM, 4wABS, brake shift interlock, cluster and pcm keep alive memory. So my question is how do I find the problem from here? How do I even eliminate these to narrow down my search?

hi there I've got a f250 xlt 2004 with the same issue just following what you found as a fault pls help

How old are your batteries. How fast does it drain down? Have you cleaned all your grounds completely? Are your brake lights indeed off? Cab and bed llight etc.

When did it start/did you work on anything just prior?

Paint a good picture and stuff will pour in here.

Static battery voltage will help a little.

I see it an old post, but still relevant. I'm having the fuse#15 problem now. My earlier battery drain was from the factory stereo. I replaced it with an aftermarket a few years ago. Fixed it then, now the fuse15. Time to test those components.
