'95 F350 REAR AXLE & CURB WT ?
I have just traded for a '95 CC dually, 460, 5 speed. I was changing the rear end grease and checked the tag. 4L10 was the start of the bottom line on the tag.
I guess this means it's a 4.10 ratio and whatever Ford calls a posi. If I'm correct what grease is correct to refill this with?
Also what does the 5 speed trans take for fluid?
Finally where can I find the curb weight of this truck?
The door tag says 10,000 GVW.

Grease? You should be using 80w-90 gear oil with friction modifier (since you have a limited slip). Heavy use you should use the 75w-140 with friction modifier.
Curb weight varies based on options, etc...and can be pretty difficult to find. Best best is to just bring it to a scale and weigh it, but you can expect it to weigh around 6500-7000 pounds.

Thanks for the info.
Somewhere I found that the trans takes Dextron.
I drained the rear end today and it's not any kind of limited slip, just a plain old open r/e.
I copied down all the info from the tag off the r/e,
top line; SS169N
lower line; 4L10 10 2 4H01
any ideas what all this means.
The rear cover has 12 bolts

4L10 is limited slip. Ford uses a clutch-pack type limited slip. The clutch plates are behind spider gears. You cannot see the clutches, and it will appear to be a normal open rear end without disassembling the carrier.
I'm assuming you're expecting it to look like a dodge helical type limited slip, or a GM G80 gov-lok.

The clutches are pretty hard to see, especially with the carrier installed in the axle.
However, if you really think you may have an open-carrier, verify it against this: The left side is an open carrier, the right side is the limited slip:
That would be very bizarre if your axle does indeed have an open differential, especially if the axle code on the door tag says you have a limited slip.

I forgot to look at the door tag today and the cover is back on and she's filled with grease and LS additive.
It really doesn't make a lot of difference what it is cause as soon as I get this baby cleaned up and mechanically sound she's gotta find a new home!!!
Thanks for the pics.
